§ 4-97. Hours of service.

  • (a)

    Subject to subsection (b) of this section, it shall be unlawful and a violation of this section for any person who is a licensee or permittee under this chapter to sell, offer for sale, deliver or transfer at retail any alcoholic liquor during the following hours:

    (1)

    Between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any Monday through Saturday, inclusive; and

    (2)

    Between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on any Sunday.

    (b)

    On January 1 of each year, the hours prohibited in subsection (a)(1) of this section shall be between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., and the hours prohibited in subsection (a)(2) of this section shall be between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

    (c)

    Subject to subsection (d) of this section, it shall be unlawful and a violation of this section for any person who is a licensee or permittee under this chapter to keep open for business, to admit the public to or to permit the public to remain within any licensed or permitted premises or area under this chapter between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any day other than January 1 of each year and between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any January 1 of each year.

    (d)

    In the case of any grocery store, drug store, hotel/motel, bowling alley or restaurant which has been issued a liquor license under this chapter, any such establishment may be kept open for business between the hours prohibited in subsection (c) of this section but no alcoholic liquor may be sold, offered for sale or consumed during any such hours.
