§ 40-92. Disconnections for nonpayment.

  • If any bill for any utility service is not paid in full on or before the date on which it becomes delinquent, any utility service may be disconnected from any of the applicable utility systems without further notice. Provided, however, that any residential customer will not be disconnected from any electric service or natural gas service: (1) on any day when the National Weather Service forecast for the following 24 hours includes a forecast that the temperature will be 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below; (2) on any day preceding a holiday or a weekend when such a forecast indicates that the temperature will be 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below during such holiday or weekend; or (3) if such customer was a member of the Armed Services or Reserve Forces of the United States or a member of the Illinois National Guard and was a primary occupant of the premises immediately before such service member was deployed on active duty in accordance with section 11-117-12.2 of the Illinois Municipal Code.
