§ 20-131. Sound amplification systems on the public way; exception.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to play, use, operate or permit to be played, used or operated any radio, tape recorder, cassette player, device for receiving broadcast sound or reproducing recorded sound, or any other sound amplification system if the device is located on a public way or in any motor vehicle on the public way and such sound can be heard from a distance of 75 feet or more.

    (b)

    This section does not apply to:

    (1)

    Any authorized emergency vehicles;

    (2)

    Any sound amplification system which is being operated to request assistance or warn of a hazardous condition; or

    (3)

    Any sound amplification system which is being operated in connection with any public event authorized, licensed or otherwise sanctioned by the village.
